New page

Bullet-time is a special visual effect appeared in numerous episodes of the series. It has been shown that in this affect time slows down time to the point that muzzle flash can clearly be seen fading away. It is usually dignified to be used by the screen being given a red tint and lasting for few seconds. The concept originated from cinema, and was popularized by the 1999 film The Matrix and the 1998 film Blade. In Madness: Project Nexus (Classic) it appears as an ability to help user to percieve time at a slower pace. However, unlike the bullet-time in main series, the bullet-time in the game doesn't appear as a red screen with the time getting slowed-down but instead characters creating afterimages when moving, and unlike in the main series it can last down half-a-minute if the the bar for it is full.

Bullet-time makes a very brief debut in Madness Combat 4: Apotheosis, when Hank is shot by the zombified 1337 agent.

Bullet-time makes its proper debut in Madness Combat 5: Depredation: It appeared when Hank was gunning down 1337 agents. In Madness Combat 6.5, bullet-time is used as a visual effect to detail a M203 grenade that Deimos fired at three A.A.H.W. units, right before they were blown up by the grenade. In Madness Combat 7: Consternation, it appears again, this time showing Hank firing a Semi-auto shotgun directly into Mag Agent: Torture's face. In Madness Combat 8: Inundation, Jesus uit used to show Jesus holding the giant bullet of a Mag Agent: V2's Desert Eagle, and then again appeared when Jesus was dodging a dozen rounds from the Auditor's minigun.

In Madness: Project Nexus (Classic), it is an ability that the player can use that slows down all gameplay, excluding bullets, which is powered by kills. It takes about 20 kills to completely fill the Bullet-Time bar at the top of the screen. Despite what the tutorial says, the Bullet-Time bar does not have to be completely full to be used. In the last two levels of Episode 1.5, the Bullet-Time bar is replaced by a "Magic Bar"; the player can no longer activate Bullet-Time, but instead use the Halo to fire Nexus bolts.

In Arena Combat Mode, perks can be unlocked that can make bullet-time more efficient, e.g. retaining your normal movement speed.
