Ghoul is a boss character featured in MADNESS: Project Nexus. It is a deadly cybernetic foe roughly the size of a Mag Agent.
Description
The Ghoul is a quadrupedal multi-eyed robot that guards the Monolith that leads entrance to the Science Tower. Earlier concepts of the Ghoul depict it as a feral Mag zombie, and then later on a quadrupedal Mag unit with cybernetic augmentations. Early concept images assigned him the subclass of "Carrion Eater"[1]. This, combined with how early concept artwork of it depicts it holding a corpse with it's head eaten, implied that it would have eaten corpses in the middle of battle.
Strategy
Ghoul is fought in the mission "The Last Leg" aboard the monolift leading up to the Science Tower. Ghoul is extremely fast and will keep the player on their toes. Ghoul will either chase Sanford and Deimos to attack with swipes of its claws, including an overhand smash with both hands that can send the player flying, or retreat to the corners of the elevator to attack with lasers. Ghoul's lasers can either take the form of Laser Pistol shots, a sniping attack, or a continuous beam that will sweep the width of the elevator; the only safe spot being right next to Ghoul itself. If the player picked up a riot shield earlier in the level, it can be used to block most of Ghoul's ranged attacks.
Each time Ghoul loses a corpus block, it will begin leaping high into the air to use a stomp attack. This will go on indefinitely until interrupted -- the player must trick Ghoul into landing on one of the safety latches holding the elevator platform together. This will break the elevator's floor, shrinking the battlefield each time.
