Not to be confused with the faction in charge of the project, NEXUS Core or the games.

Project Nexus is a research initiative to produce better and stronger soldier numbers by experimenting on live and dead subjects. The project was first commenced under the direction of Director Phobos and later revived and managed by the NEXUS Core and overseen by the AAHW in the first game's main canon (Project Nexus Classic). More is revealed regarding the project in the upcoming sequel to the flash game, Madness: Project Nexus.

Iterations

Due to the multiple canon and non-canon appearances/interpretations of the Nexus Core, the Project's Leaders, members and overall execution and concept may vary per-animation.

In Madness: Project Nexus (Canon)

The Nexus Project was led by the Nexus Science Team, composed by Dr. Christoff, Dr. Hofnarr and Dr. Crackpot prior to the game's events. The three would attempt various experiments to access "The Other Place" and/or to pull subjects from it, with varying results.

Some of Dr. Christoff's attempts ended up in the creation of Abominations and Sleepwalkers, whilst Dr. Crackpot's plan Zed created the titular Zeds, all of which were considered failures and led to the city being overrun by the experiments when Christoff betrayed the NEXUS Core and released the experiments as an attempt ro repent and fix what Director Phobos twisted.

In REALM

Within the canon of the REALM series, the project currently lies under the direction of Head Scientist Zalmamdar Oox and therefore worked on by the A.A.H.W.

As revealed in REALM: Revelation, the Nexus Project aimed to create a portal to enter the Employers' realm and is used by Sokar to use Kelzad as live bait to lure some of his brethen into Nevada.
